The main theme is how to support inhabitancy of the elderly.  In the theme we have especially the following challenges for the enrichment of inhabitancy; self-sustained inhabitancy, improvement of quality of life and so on.

  1. Well-designed planning process
  2. Facility plan
  3. District plan
  4. Proposals of social systems
  5. Satisfactory inhabitancy support information system

Instead of merely planning layout of facilities for the elderly or planning land-use such as in the conventional city planning, we develop and propose the management system through the following approaches for the challenges.

  1. We develop the urban management system technology that treats inhabitancy of the elderly from a comprehensive standpoint, enhances the individual quality of life that matches diversified individual situations, and at the same time enables financial burdens under control.

  2. Our final goal is to implement the comprehensive planning technology for the enrichment of the elderly inhabitancy in Kashiwa City, and to propose the comprehensive management system of the social system.

When the management system is developed that fuses hard and soft system, it will become “Kashiwa Model” that has an impact on many other municipalities and enables nation-wide implementation of the planning based on autonomy of the districts.
